2022 International Youth Film Project· Hubei Starts in CCNU (Published by Central China Normal University on May 17th 2022)

On April 29, the opening ceremony of 2022 Looking China-International Youth Film Project· Hubei started at Yifu International Convention Center.


Gao Feng, the representative of the organizers delivered a speech online. He introduced the development and the status quo of this project. Besides, he encouraged all the teenagers from home and aboard to create fascinating works from unique perspectives and show Chinese culture to the world by taking full advantage of the characteristics of Wuhan, which is a multicultural city reputed as "nine-province thoroughfare".


Prof. Arun Gupta, the foreign tutor from Indian National Institute of Design, said, he can see a brand new and evolving China every time he took part in this project since 6 years ago. He wished that every participant can enjoy the shooting process and produce well-made documentaries based on the topic so that the memory of Hubei in 2022 can be treasured up forever.


Foreign teenager representative Lugazo Abubakar from CCNU shared his experience of taking part in Looking China 2020. He mentioned that there would be plenty of challenges for the participants during the 17-day shooting journey. Therefore, they need to be optimistic and patient, and good communication and collaboration are extremely important.


China teenager representative Liu Jiahui from CCNU also talked about her experience of taking part in the project in 2020. As the saying goes, there are different kinds of beauty in the world, and we need to appreciate both ours and others so that the world will be blessed with harmony and unity. Looking China provides an opportunity of communication and integration of different cultures. Also, the youth from home and aboard can not only explore new ideas and create greater works than the expectations, but also develop profound friendship in the project.


Looking China is a cross-cultural activity that has been held 11 times and accomplished 779 documentary videos. It has won 142 international awards and become a famous project that introduces unique and remarkable Chinese culture to the world.


Undertaken by CCNU, the project of this year will focus on the theme "Grace and intelligence· Prevailing custom· Scenery", and the relationship between people, society and nature. Ten groups will travel to different parts of Hubei, and each of them will make a documentary video of 5 to 10 minutes, through which they will show the charm of Chinese people, Chinese event and Chinese love from their perspective.
